Mate, Buddy, Cobber...

Our mate Adam (aka Mr Sir) is bunking in with us for the week to help out with the cobbing.  We're running desperately behind and really need to get another coat of render on the inside walls but the windows in particular need quite a bit of cobb before that can happen.  Mr Sir is a God-send.
All smiles ready to start on the next window.
Here's one he prepared earlier.

Painting, Sanding & Polishing

Outside work continues...

AC is evening out walls where eave boards meet, filling in the gaps and smoothing the walls over.

Fuzzy & Nama have been busy painting.

MOTH is sanding the eave boards.

The ballustrading arrived this week.  After much discussion and contemplation, we've decided to keep it natural and just apply decking oil for weather protection.

Lights Action...

The sparky is on the job too now.  Cables are everywhere inside and out.  Two of the 3 distribution boards are in the pic... one for C-Bus and the others for general distribution.  It's all so organised and color coded... just how I like it !

Home (J)eaves...

The scaffolding has cost us small fortune to date and we're eager to rid ourselves of the burden.  The aim of the game right now is to work on outside tasks that we can only reach via the scaffolding, so painting, eaves etc is the priority at the mo.

The weather has been brutal the past few days... so much rain.  What is it about the mountains that attracts it so?

Here's MOTH doing his best...
you can also see the electrical cabling has also started.
AC also pointed out to me Fuzzy's pretty awesome joinery...
if you appreciate this sort of stuff.

Nama on a hot tin roof...

The sun was shining, the birds were singing (no cats to be seen tho), so Nama took the opportunity to paint the fascia boards today.  Nice view.

Fuzzy's area wasn't quite so exciting, but just as difficult to reach.

Front door...

The front door is thought to be the mouth of the home, the entry point where energy, abundance and opportunities may find us... and we agonised over this door.  How do you choose a door without seeing the space and surroundings of it's location?  Well... we just took pot luck and a vote.  Here's what it looks like unstained.  A friend of a friend came this week to set it all up for us, then it was removed and the oh-so attractive temporary door (yes, another MOTH creation) was put in it's place until we've finished playing dirty.  I quite like it from the other side...

Let's straighten walls...

Many jobs are on the go right now.  Our main aim is to do all outside jobs that we can only access via the scaffolding, so sanding and painting fascia boards is this weekend's task, while we wait for the WeatherTex, weathergroove board for the eaves and between the cellar story windows.

In the meantime, the inside crew is straightening the walls ready for the second inside coat of render.  We've filled most of the rabbit holes but now have to deal with some lumps and bumps. This is a very specialised process involving MacGyver... oops MOTH's home-made wall-levelling device.
The gizmo is put in place
and levels adjusted

The lump in the wall is removed

and excess dirt brushed off

Nama sweeps away the muck
